What is your bag policy?

Bags (backpacks, large bags, suitcases, luggage) may not be larger than 14"x14".

Are there any prohibited items?

Items NOT allowed into the El Rey Theatre include but are not limited to:
- Outside Food Or Beverage
- Alcohol, Drugs or Illegal Substances
- Chewing Gum
- Backpacks (Bags (backpacks, large bags, suitcases, luggage): may not be larger than 14"x14")
- Glass Bottles, Metal Cans, etc.
- Fireworks, slingshots, laser pointers, flashlights, etc.
- Professional cameras (anything with a detachable lense; with the exception of properly credentialed individuals) iPads, tablets, videocameras, tripods, monopods, or GoPros
- Weapons of any kind including but not limited to:
- Firearms (with or without permit), explosives, pepper spray, tear gas, pocket knives, multi-tools, or knives of any size, mace, etc.
- No Animals (with the exception of service animals)
- Water guns, toy replica weapons, squirt bottles, soap bubbles, etc.
- Noise making devices, i.e. horns, cowbells, whistles (LAMC Sec. 41.57.)
- Beach balls, Frisbees, balloons, brooms, skateboards, roller blades, skates, etc.
- Balloons, permanent markers, spray paint, stickers
- Recording devices: audio or video (including GoPro cameras)
- Selfie Sticks
- Signs/flags/banners/posters: may not be larger than 11”17” or attached to a pole/stick
- Masks
- Umbrellas
Any items deemed inappropriate or unsafe by Management will not be allowed.

What methods of payment does the venue accept?

Cash and card are both accepted at the box office.
Venue concessions are cashless.

Can I bring a camera to the show?
-
No professional recording devices are allowed. This includes professional cameras (any camera with a detachable lens).

When do doors open for a show?
-
Doors typically open one hour prior to show time. Please refer our Calendar page or the Goldenvoice website for the most up-to-date information.

Are there any opening acts at the show?
-
Any support acts will be listed on our Calendar page or the Goldenvoice website. Support acts are often added closer to the show date.

Do you allow re-entry?
-
No. Once your ticket has been scanned you will not be allowed to leave and re-enter the venue.

Are you an all-ages venue?
-
Yes, we are an all ages venue. The shows are all ages unless otherwise specified.
Please note: any attendees aged 7 & under must have appropriate hearing protection for their age and size. Ear plugs, Bluetooth headphones or cold-weather ear muffs are not accepted.

Do you serve food and alcohol?
-
Yes. You must be over 21 to drink alcohol. You will be asked for a current, government issued ID (e.g. driver's license, passport, military ID).
You can also grab a bite to eat at our friend's next door at El Cartel.

What are the costume restrictions?

Facial recognition is required. Guest(s) must be able to remove costumes, which cover or alter the facial features to allow for identification verification. Toy Weapons are not allowed (this includes plastic swords, guns, etc). Any props that can be possibly used as a weapon are not permitted. Roller skates, skate boards, scooters are not permitted. Nudity is not permitted.

I am a journalist interested in covering a show. Can I get press and photo passes?

We do not approve press or photo passes. Please contact the artist directly. We do not have their contact information.

How can I meet my favorite band?
-
Only official artist representatives grant backstage access or meet & greet opportunities. We do not handle artist access.
If a meet & greet opportunity is available for purchase, this option will be noted on the event's purchase page.

Does your theatre have seats?

We are a general admission, standing room venue. Some shows are seated and will be detailed in the show ticketing link.

I'm bringing my child, is there anything I should bring?
-
Any attendees aged 7 and under must have appropriate hearing protection for their age and size. Ear plugs, Bluetooth headphones or cold-weather ear muffs are not accepted.

My ID is expired, can I still get a drinking wristband?
-
No. Your ID must legally check all of the following boxes:
Bona fide (legally acceptable) identification is one card that contains these six characteristics:
- Issued by a U.S. government agency (federal, state, county, or city)
- Name of the person
- Date of birth
- Photograph
- Physical description (height, weight, hair and eye color)
- Currently valid (not expired)
And we cannot accept photos/copies of your ID in order to get a drinking wristband.

Is smoking allowed at the El Rey Theatre?

Smoking is not allowed anywhere inside our historic building (including vapes & e-cigs, etc). You are welcome to smoke your tobacco outside in the designated smoking section; please note THC/marijuana products are strictly prohibited. Attendees can be asked to leave & escorted off the premises should they fail to comply with any event or venue rules.
Health Policy FAQs

What is the El Rey Theatre's current Health Policy?
-
Effective April 1, 2022, we will no longer require proof of vaccination, negative COVID-19 test or masking to enter our venues (although we do encourage masks indoors.)
Please note that these policies may change in accordance with any local mandates. In addition, certain shows – at the request of individual artists or tour management – may require masks to be worn, proof of a negative COVID-19 test, or proof of full COVID-19 vaccination for entry at the request of the artist and/or tour management. If applicable, these requirements will be listed on the event page on AXS.com. Please review the AXS Purchaser Agreement here and the information below if you are attending a show that has any entry requirements. Please note that the El Rey Theatre is unable to verify or guarantee the authenticity of tickets that were not purchased directly through an authorized sales chanel (i.e. AXS.com). Third-party sellers can include Craigslist, StubHub, Vivid Seats, Ebay, etc.

Can I buy tickets in person?

Our box office is only open the night of the show when doors open. If the show has not sold out in advance, you can purchase tickets here.
You can purchase tickets in advance online, in person (at the Fonda or Shrine) or by phone -- full details available on our Where to Buy page.

Do you sell tickets at the door?

If a show is not sold out, we will sell tickets at the box office the night of the show when doors open.

Does your theatre have seats?

The El Rey is a general admission, standing room venue, unless stated otherwise in specific show details.

Do you have Accessible seating?

Yes. If you require ADA accommodations, we ask that you contact us in advance of the event you are attending, so we can notify our security and house staff to anticipate your specific needs.

Do you offer bottle service?

We do not offer bottle service.

What is AXS Mobile ID?

AXS Mobile ID is a digital ticketing technology that provides the flexibility and convenience of safely and securely managing tickets online or in the AXS mobile app and is the preferred admission method for the venue. It eliminates paper tickets and allows you to enter the venue with your AXS Mobile ID and manage your tickets digitally. AXS Mobile ID gives you the ability to transfer, sell and buy seats through an official marketplace endorsed by the venue.

How do I download the AXS Mobile App to get my tickets?

I bought a ticket from a 3rd party seller (Craigslist, StubHub, Ebay, etc), how do I know if it's valid?

The El Rey Theatre is unable to verify or guarantee the authenticity of tickets that were not purchased directly through an authorized sales channel (i.e. AXS.com). For this reason, we do not recommend purchasing tickets from third-party resellers. If a ticket is purchased through a third-party reseller, the El Rey Theatre is not responsible for any fraudulent activity and will not honor invalid tickets.

Can I screenshot or print the QR code?

El Rey Theatre only accepts and scans tickets off a mobile device if they are within an approved AXS Application. Screenshots or a printed copy of a mobile QR code will not be accepted.

Is there a specific accessible entryway or are all entries accessible?

All entries are accessible.

Where are the ADA viewing areas?

ADA viewing areas are on the right side of the venue, when facing the stage. Please ask a venue representative for assistance upon your arrival.

Are there specific ADA restrooms? If so, where are they?

All restrooms have accessible stalls.

Where are the elevators (or chair lifts), if applicable?

What does an individual need to do if they need interpreter services?

We kindly ask that you submit your request at least two weeks prior to the concert date. This allows us adequate time to secure the services of a qualified interpreter. While we will do our best to accommodate late requests, advance notice is greatly appreciated.
