El Rey Theatre is located on Wilshire Blvd in between La Brea Ave and Fairfax Ave in the Miracle Mile area. Our exact cross streets are Burnside and Dunsmuir.

Parking

Self Parking is available at the following locations:

  • 5455 Wilshire Blvd, enter on S. Cochran Ave (lot opens at 6:30p). Cash only. Lot closes 30 minutes after show ends.
  • 5670 Wilshire Blvd, enter on S Hauser Ave
  • 5550 Wilshire Blvd, enter on S. Burnside.

Valet parking is temporarily out of service.

Street Parking: available on Wilshire Blvd. Residential permit parking decals are required for neighborhood side streets. There are plenty of meters surrounding the venue that are free after 8pm Monday - Saturday and free of charge on Sundays. No commercial parking without decal. Please read the street parking signs!

Rideshare

We highly encourage our patrons to use ride share services like Lyft or Uber due to the residential nature of our location.

  • By Train: The Metro Purple Line stops at 7th Street/Metro Center Station. For more information visit https://www.metro.net/
  • By Bus:
    • Metro Line 20 stops at Wilshire/Dunsmuir.
    • DASH Fairfax stops at Wilshire/Burnside (Stop #2303)

History

El Rey Theatre

The El Rey Theatre is an original art deco theater in the heart of the Miracle Mile, one of Los Angeles' preserved art deco districts. The El Rey was built in 1936 and designed by Clifford Balch. After over 50 years as a first run movie house, the El Rey was converted into a live music venue in 1994. A registered Historic-Cultural Monument, the El Rey has sweeping staircases, an art deco lobby, VIP balcony lounge and a grand ballroom equipped with a full stage.
